PTSD Assistance Dog – Needs New Forever Home

My name  is Craig Ferns and I work with Fire and Rescue NSW at Metro East Area Command.

I thought I would touch base with your association as I am urgently looking for a suitable forever home for an ex-veteran’s very special PTSD Assistance Dog (Learner Vest qualified) named ‘Honsou’.
Honsou (pronounced Hon-soo) is a 3-year-old Staffy cross Ridgeback who is trained to the ‘Learner’ level qualification of an Assistance Dog through an organisation called ‘Whiskey’s Wish’ based in Queensland. As a Learner qualified PTSD Assistance Dog, Honsou has been permitted to wear an Assistance Dog vest and enjoy certain public access rights such as entering shopping centres, travelling on public transport etc with his current handler.
However, his ex-veteran handler can no longer care for Honsou and we are urgently searching for a new suitable forever home where his training already received can benefit a new handler. It will be important for Honsou and his new owner that his training continues.
Honsou comes with all his equipment including leads, bowls, food, dog crate etc. If your association is aware of a retired or former police officer who might benefit from Honsou and his training, it would be fantastic if someone could  give me a call or pass on my details to them.

Thanks so much.
Best regards,
Craig Ferns
