          STATE WELFARE REPORT:

The cold weather is upon us in most parts of the State and will continue for some months. It is time to remember that where we have heating in the home, we must take care to ensure that we are mindful of our safety, by ensuring the heating is safe. Ensure is has been serviced and is not in a position where it can cause a fire, in that it is not too close to flammable items in the house. Too often during winter we hear of tragedies. Our health is important and I believe it is important to have Flu shots if you have not already done so.

During the past weeks I have been in contact with various RPA Branches to have them let me know that should any of their members be hospitalised or suffering illness. I can then forward them a Card and make contact with them when it is suitable to do so. Once again, thank you for your support and take care of each other.

Visit to Frank Mills on his 98th birthday – Bowral. Frank went out HOD in 1968 and unless you were actually serving on 14th February, 1975 you were not entitled to the National Police Service Medal. On investigation with Police Protocol Unit, I was informed that it comes under the Federal Government with strict guidelines and is not a State Government Medal.

Welfare knows no bounds. Our own Ian Moore in Bali recently, giving the local “brothers” some good old Aussie advice.
