        HUNTER REGION:

In the last couple of months we visited Easts Leisure (East Maitland Golf Club) and the opportunity for our coalfields Members to enjoy some friendship close to home. The SWILKS/THOMSON vehicle somehow became lost (a long way from Lake Macquarie) and the meeting was completed without interjection. Our meal arrived about the same time as Al and his crew. We knew he wouldn't miss that!.

It was good to catch up with Alan CURTIS and Ann. Skippy has been off the scene for a couple of decades, but appears to have given up the horses and historic vehicles in favour of wines and chocolates (HV Chocolate Factory is on his property at Lovedale)  in pursuit of a more leisurely lifestyle. We also managed to stir up Graeme CLARK and Greg COOK on the day. Welcome, all.

This month we went to Nelson Bay Golf Club to inspect their new building (burnt down 2015) and meet up with locals there. Legatees Mary KELLY and Lorraine LAUGHTON (formerly THOMPSON) and Esma KANE are all 'Bay' locals, and attended. Tom LUPTON brought Betty out for a well- eserved excursion after her lengthy brush with ill health. Graeme CLARKE travelled a fair distance with Joy and made it two in a row! We were all intrigued and keen to meet with Matt CONNOR and his Assistance Dog, Max. Matt has not long retired from NSWPF and is now a local, often seen with Max in the Soldiers Point area.

We welcome you all and continue to enjoy a good roll-up each month, with the even numbered months involving formal meetings, and the odd numbered ones just an excuse to catch up and enjoy.

We will be at the Belmont 16 Foot Sailing Club for our Christmas Lunch and meeting on Tuesday 12 December just after 11am. Al and Bob have negotiated the Club's best deal for drinks, nibbles, a three course meal and the magnificent view over Lake Macquarie at bargain prices. Please come along and bring friends. Signalling your intention to come is preferred for catering purposes, and you can do that through known contacts or ihlrt@bigpond.net.au or 0425336801.

Cheers

Ian Lovell
