Our February meeting was held with Warren Martin in the chair. The following members were in attendance - Ross Beattie, Lesley Martin, Carl Cameron, Sue and Bob Waites, Bill Leadbeatter, Bruce Williams, Phil Scott, Gordon Dafter, Alan Greenland, Barry Inall, Tony Sneddon, Johnn Barber, Warren Cole and Greg Muir. We also appreciated the visit from Kent Vild, City of Sydney Branch. Apologies were received from Richard Smith, John Schell, John Davis, John Andrews, Barney Fyfe, Kerry Larsen, Les Potter, Phil Pearce and Mark Edwards.

It was good to see Gordon in attendance after the sad loss of his wife, Val, late last year. Les Potter’s absence was due to a very bad fall that nearly resulted in dire consequences.

Bob Waites gave us a very interesting insight into their trips to the Galapagos Islands and Antartica, with great photography of flora and fauna.

Our April meeting was held with Warren Martin acting Chairman. The following were in attendance - Peter McDonnell, Lesley Martin, Alan Pollock, Greg Muir, John Schell, Les Potter, Bill Johnson, Warren Cole, Alan Greenland, Verity Greenwood, John Graham, Ron Smith and Barry Inall. Apologies were received from Phil Scott, Bruce Williams, Carl Cameron, Sue & Bob Waites, Mark Edwards, Ross Beattie, Ken McKnight, Phil Stubbs-Mills, Eric Ransley, Kerry Larsen, Richard Smith, Barney Fyfe, Geoff Hammand, Wal Gaffney.

We have a few of our senior members in the wars at the moment. Gordon Dafter and John Howard have both been convalescing at local hospitals, John after having had 2 falls, one of which was in Mt Wilga. We have other members going through health problems at the moment and wish them all well.

Speaking of wars, Barrry Inall gave an intersting talk about his father’s service during WW1 and his encounter with Lawrence of Arabia. He certainly held everyone’s interest.

Many thanks to our own John Graham who often goes heard but unseen at Police funerals and functions.

Branch meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the even months (i.e. Feb, April etc). 11am, Hornsby RSL Club function rooms, High Street, Hornsby.

Greg Muir
